The story of Mike Celley

MIKE | SECOND GENERATION SCULPTOR

Close to perfection

Celebrating 31 years in the granite industry, Mike initially planned on having a career as a physical educator. Fortunately for us, that didn’t pan out.

Hailing from a long line of stone workers and sculptors, he began his training in his father’s shed where he acquired the many technical subtleties necessary to create amazing details, such as the gaze of the eyes, the intricate folds of clothing and delicate locks of hair.

A perfectionist at heart, Mike has always been his biggest critic. Through the years, he has developed a unique sensibility, enabling him to construct one-of-a-kind human forms, life-like faces, as well as organic shapes. His goal: to evoke emotion out of stone.

Even in his spare time, Mike can be found creating something out of thin air. He’s a blacksmith, a woodworker, a collector, and a craftsman. He is the true representation of the famous saying, “success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence.”
